Core Vocabulary Learning

Here is a new project: Core Vocabulary Curriculum.  It will focus on learning 30 or more core vocabulary words through symbols and auditory language.  It will focus on one to two words a week.  The idea is to embed this into normal routines with one or two lessons about the word/symbol meaning as well.  Here is a sample of what is coming, The Core Vocabulary Learning Book which I am posting below.  Please share your thoughts and ideas!

    This is great (as always)!
    I suggest to skip giving a hug, as the hug is so much dominating over the action of giving, rather only work with objects. And maybe combine All gone and All done into the lesson, so they differentiate well? Semantically the are very different, so maybe it is not an issue at all for a native English speaker, but to me the phonological similarity is a risk.
    How about putting the presentation and the Commuicator files into a zip file and upload it at the Communicator sharesite?

    This is so awesome. I would love to pilot it with my students. I teach students with moderate to severe cognitive and physical disabilities at a middle school level. The reading programs out there are either not appropriate, follow no consistent flow or are too young for my students. You are amazing. By the way, congrats on the new job, you will be great. The wonderful part of having someone like you in a position like that is that you get it because you understand the classroom setting too.
